World’s First Liquor Store Wedding Chapel Opens in New Orleans
In a city renowned for its one-of-a-kind attractions, Chuck's on the Avenue has added a new feather to New Orleans' cultural cap: the world’s first liquor store with a wedding chapel.
Located at 205 St. Charles Avenue, Chuck's hosted its first wedding on November 16, uniting a couple from Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The unique venue aims to blend the city's rich architectural heritage with its signature celebratory spirit.
A Truly New Orleans Experience
The ceremony featured everything you’d expect from the Crescent City: a second line through the bourbon and tequila aisles, a performance by the New Orleans Brass Band, and black-and-gold beads thrown by the flower girl.
Even Saints superfan and ordained minister Randy "Elvis" Bonnaval officiated the ceremony. Chuck's offers themed packages, including Elvis weddings, Mardi Gras extravaganzas, and high-end bourbon tastings for receptions.
Local Heritage Meets Innovation
Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser praised the venture, stating, "There’s no city like New Orleans, and this venue helps us compete with destinations like Las Vegas for wedding tourism."
The chapel features reclaimed architectural elements from historic Louisiana churches, preserving the state's cultural legacy.
Economic Impact for Louisiana
With wedding tourism on the rise, Chuck’s stands to boost the local economy, attracting visitors who seek unique experiences. Owner Charles Loescher said, “We’re creating a space that embodies the New Orleans spirit—quirky, memorable, and utterly authentic.”
The Most New Orleans Experience
Whether you're tying the knot, renewing vows, or just looking for a distinctive celebration, Chuck's on the Avenue is a testament to Louisiana’s flair for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.
