New Orleans Is Declaring ‘Dolly Day’ on September 25 — Here’s How the French Quarter Will Celebrate

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Those who want to pay tribute to the late Dolly Parton have a grand opportunity later this month. The Krewe of Dolly will hold a Dolly Parton Celebration of Life in the French Quarter on Friday, September 25, 2026.

September 25 Is Now 'Dolly Day' in New Orleans — Here's the Schedule

You may recall that this celebration was supposed to take place on Saturday, September 5, but the French Quarter was already approved for a major special event, which prohibits additional parades. So now, the city will officially recognize September 25 as "Dolly Day."

The Dolly Parton Celebration of Life festivities will include performances, fundraising efforts, and a special tribute. There will be an evening parade beginning at Armstrong Park at 5 p.m., following a 4 p.m. meetup, and the festivities will end at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. The event will include participants dressed as Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, and other fans of the country music icon.

Imagination Library Fundraiser: Reaching 6,000 Kids in New Orleans

During the event, the Krewe will reveal how much has been raised for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which provides books to children. The Krewe hopes to reach 6,000 children in New Orleans by the end of the year.

The celebration will continue at the Blue Nile with performances by local acts connected to the Krewe and Dolly Parton.

The Krewe of Dolly in New Orleans was founded in 2020 by a small group of Dolly Parton enthusiasts. Members often dress in rhinestone outfits and blonde wigs to honor the iconic singer during Carnival events and parades. The group also works with the Dollywood Foundation's Imagination Library to provide free books to children in New Orleans.
