Louisiana Brides Should Avoid Getting Married on This Date

If you're planning a wedding for 2025 in Louisiana, you may want to avoid getting married on this date.

People in Louisiana love having a good time, including when someone they know is getting married. Yes, wedding receptions in Louisiana are just different, and I say that in a good way.

Some of the best parties I have attended here in South Louisiana have been at wedding receptions, yet people down south will prioritize even over a Saturday night wedding reception.

You see, as much as we love celebrating the marriage of family or friends, we also have a deep love for sports, specifically football in the Deep South.

Sure, some may say that some neighboring states love football and sports as much as we do here, but when it comes to the LSU and Alabama games, no one waits for that weekend more than those in the Deep South.

I say that because the fall is a very popular time of the year to get married here, it's not so hot, and that can make for the perfect evening for a wedding reception. However, you've got to keep a certain date in mind when planning your wedding in Louisiana, and you guessed it, you should try to avoid getting married on the night of the LSU and Bama game.

The Tigers and Crimson Tide traditionally play on the second Saturday in November, and this year, that remains true. LSU will travel to Alabama on November 8, 2025, and yes, even though the Tigers are on the road, fans will still be invested in the game.

Sure, if you decide to get married on Nov. 8th, you can accommodate fans by having a television at your reception, but who wants to do that? I've seen it done for previous football seasons, and the TV truly is a "buzz kill "at a wedding reception. Just don't do it.

Again, I know it may sound insensitive to some, but many here in Louisiana will prioritize a football game over a wedding, we love football that much, so don't risk not having people show up for your big day because of a highly anticipated football game.

Just plan accordingly, so that you aren't left disappointed by some not in attendance.
